The North Vancouver
Moustache opened three

years ago in what was the

ome of the Great Canadian
Sandwich Pie Co. and prior to
that spent a checkered career
as, among other things, a

lace of Rastafarian knick-
knacks and South American
artifacts.

The house is vintage
1918. It is a survivor. The
last single residential building
on North Vancouver's por-
tion of Marine Drive. Traffic
noise would preclude residen-
tial habitation these days. But
as a restaurant — one of the

The Moustache began with
spartan facilities: electric
range in cramped kitchen,
small dining room in a small
house. But it has marched
steadily higher up the ladder
of culinary excellence since
Khazali took over.

From the outset he has
employed excellent kitchen
staff. Vince Gallo opened. He
was followed by Andrey
Durbach.
