Family drop-in centres offer support for
parents and caregivers as well as
safe playtime for the little ones.

Family Services of the
North Shore operates four
family drop-in centres in
North Vancouver. Families
raising young children,
especially stay at home
moms appreciate spend-
ing time with others in the
same situation. The drop-
in Centres are unstructured
and open to anyone with
young children including
new borns. Its a friendly
atmosphere where the
coffee is always on and
everyone is welcome.

\f you‘re new to the com-
munity its a great way to
meet moms in the neigh-

bourhood and nannies
caring for children are also
welcome. Raising children
isn’t always easy. Knowing
there’s a place to go to
network with other moms,
ask questions about what's
normal at what age and
sometimes be offered
solutions that have
worked for others can be
very comforting. Its also a
nice break on a rainy day.
The kids can play while the
parent sits dcwn to relax
with a coffee and a chance
to chat with a new friend.
You could think of it as a
soother for adults.
