A MOSQUITO Creek neighbor-

hood group of residents is pushing

for the City of North Vancouver to

purchase seven existing homes for

use as park land on the east side of
1700 Fell Avenue.

least one homeowner who com-
plained to council on Monday
about not being advised about such
a move.

Bill Scott, whose property
would have to be expropriated by
the municipality for park land, said
he and the other six homeowners
had never been appreached by any-
one from the city or the neighbor-

Community Plan (OCP) in any
future redevelopment of the Fell
Avenne area at Mosquito Creek.
The local OCP does not include
provisions for acquisition of land
for new parks, he pointed out,

Scott was responding to a dele-
gation fed by Karen Milne, who
presented a 256-name petition
requesting that the city determine
the cust of acquiring the seven
properties,

Milne told council that parks
“are our heritage” and should be
considered for the best “long-term”
interests of the neighborhood.
Council listened to the delegations
and deferred a decision until the
end of September.
