Leif Erickson first discovered
wild grape vines growing in
Newfoundland around the
year 1000 A.D. Quebec Jesuit
Missionaries are credited
with making the first Cana-
dian wines from local grapes
in 1636. Closer to home,
Calona Wines 1s the oldest
winery in B.C. and has been
developing and = marketing
wines from the Okanagan
Valley since 1932
