AIS - Sunday, May 30, 1982 - North Shore News EE community round up West Van mourns passing of Frank Libby FAMILY AND FRIENDS bade farewell Tuesday to one of West Vancouver's best-known and most respected citizens, Frank E. T. Libby, who died May 20 at the age of 68. The well-attended funeral service in West Van United Church was conducted by Rev. Tom Oliver and Rev. John Robertson. For many West Van residents Frank Libby, ,owner and operator of the pharmacy and drugstore at 25th and Marine for almost 23 years, was a living symbol of Dundarave. He purchased _ the business, at that time Alex Stevens Drugstore, in 1959 and expanded it after the owner of premesis, W. W. Lefeaux, rebuilt them to his specifications — which included the innovative Sea View Coffee Shop and the sub-post office. A pharmatist for 47 years, FRANK LIBBY | Mr. Libby was born in South Vancouver, attended John Oliver High School and trained at the B.C. School of Pharmacy, apprenticing with J. W. Harcus. He worked for Harcus stores in Vancouver for the next 20 years, meanwhile taking up _ per- manent residence with his family in Horseshoe Bay in 1949. “SCHOLARSHIP Night of Music” is the title of a concert to be presented tomorrow (Monday. May 31} at Carson Graham Senior Secondary School at 4 p.m. Carson The evening of music will concert feature the Carson concert set for * band. concert choir, jazz band and jazz choir, with several student soloists in both styles performing Carson's musical en- sembles have won numerous honors throughout the year. In addition to his business Mr. Libby had wide com- munity service interests and gave generously of his time to them. He served for three years as a West Van Parks Board member. He acted as pharmacist representative on the West Van Emergency Measures Organization, having trained at Arnprior for that role. And he was a senior member of the West Van Rotary Club. He also served as president of the Horseshoe Bay Community Association, as well as in many other capacities, and was a life member of that body. He played a special Part in easing the growing pains of the Horseshoe Bay senior citizens project — commemorated in the name of the completed building, Libby Lodge.
