Thrift store aids SAGE House VERY often, when a woman flees an abusive relationship, she leaves with little more than the clothes on her back. For this reason, North Shore Crisis Services Society opened the Good Stuff Connection. The thrift shop supplies free clothing to women and children seeking - temporary shelter at SAGE Transition House, formerly Emily Murphy House. The shop is located in the same build- ing as the society’s main office, in Suite 209A - 145 E. 15th St., North Van. The thrift shop has clothed more than 200 women since it opened jast July, says the society’s resource manager Pamela Buck. Since March 23, the thrift shop has opened to the public on Thursdays from noon te 4 p.m. Women from SAGE get the first pick of clothes, but now the sale generates income that helps pay for the expenses associated with the cost of running the - thrift shop, says Buck. “The money helps pay for the cost of the space but also, that money can then go in to better f programs for those in need,” she says. i The thrift shop receives funding from: -. the Ministry of Women's Equality and the three North Shore municipalities but also relies on the community for its sup- port. Donations of new or gently worn - clothing for wome:: and children are wel- -:” come and can be dropped off Tuesdays ° - and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to ] p.m. Items” should be freshly laundered.
