CMNS 136 (Commercial Scriptwriting) is designed to help students create a portfolio they can use to market their talent and, it provides a perfect venue for students to test their cinematic concepts. “While it is true that hundreds of millions of dollars are spent each year on film production in B.C,” says Capilano College instructor Bill Van Luven, “it is also true that most of this creative activity is conceived ard scripted by individuals outside of our province. This is something we would like to change. “It’s tare to meet someone from the Lower Mainland who doesn’t have an idea for a film,” remarks Van Luven. “The question is, are they DUBRULLE prepared to do the work necessary to mold their ideas into a producible and professional script?” It's not easy, and many people end up writing for a box in the cioset.
