I'm the sort who cleans things that look dirty — but who takes a shower with their glasses on? Con- sequently, when I remember to do the job it’s no simple task. Have ! found a product that tru- ly lives up to its name — Scrub Free! Just spray it on, wipe it off. Not a trace of soap film — even that blue-tinged stuff around drains — remains. It takes no more effort than dusting 2 table. I bought my bottle of Scrub Free: at Fred Meyer in Bellingham, tried it and vowed to buy a case lot on my next visit — I'll never be without it! Now, the good news: carries it. It’s very possible that other supermarket chains here do too, but | wanted to get you the news as fast as possible so I didn’t go look- ing everywhere else. One caution: Scrub Free has quite a pungent odor, and | found working in a stall shower that | had to do half the job and come back later. Stong’s wk I’m furious at the manufacturers of refrigerated products who put the ‘‘Best Before’’ date in unreadable spots on the package. Today 1 bought a package of Freybe pepperoni sticks — | can read the ‘BB’ in two languages beaters Barbara McCreadie but the date is obliterated in a fold. Dairy products are frequently marked in smeared ink — only a psychic could decipher the message. I know I’m a small voice in a windstorm, but from now on, every time I discover a poorly marked package I’ll let you know — right here! Try to remember to check dates before you leave the store and if you find a poorly marked one — take a minute to raise hell. We deserve the protection :hat dating provides. Let’s take it one step further — demand legibility. Pd As you read this | should be just home from an extended visit to Nevada. If my next column is ringed in black ink you may wish to turn to something more cheer- ful. One of the things that the Reno Visitors’ Bureau is trying to ar- range for me is a chat with some Basque chefs —- and, with luck, a few recipes to bring home.
