classroom volunteer, then went on
to hold positions on the Hillside
Parent Advisory Group, and the
West Van Parents’ Association, of
which she was president for two
years.

As chairman of the board, she
wants ‘to promote cooperative,
constructive discussion at the
board table and (to remain open-
minded and accessible to groups
and individuals secking consulta-
tion and clarification."*

Howard presented her own brief
to the Royal Commission Inquiry
on Education when it came to
West Vancouver at the end of last
year.

She says it is critical to maintain
the level of educational spending
as an investment for the future,
because today’s students will be
tomorrow's providers.

Howard also says there should
be more emphasis on thinking
