Local martial arts club to hold ‘Break-a-thon’ ONE THOUSAND boards will be broken down at Lonsdale Quay on July 18. North Shore Tae Kwon Do, a martial arts club, is holding the Break-a-thon to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada. . The club needs sponsors and will be at the Lynn Valley and West Vancouver Safeway stores today and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. col- lecting donations and pledges. “We'd really appreciate support in our fund-raising drive from all the North Shore. If everyone con- tributed we would be sure to get enough funds for a wheelchair or other support for kids with muscular dystrophy,’’ says event organizer Bill Haskill. For $5 or more, sponsors are eligible to win a one-month membership at Gold’s Gym, North Shore Tae Kwon Do, Spa Lady, Sue Hills Fitness or Shito Ryu Karate or a three-month fitness package from the North Van- couver Recreation Centre. Haskill encourages North Shore residents ‘to get out this weekend and pledge their support for the upcoming event. He adds, ‘‘North Shore Tae Kwon Do wants to thank McKim Printing, Hollyburn Lumber, Beaver Lumber and the Lonsdale Quay merchants for their sponsorship in the Break-a-thon.”” For further information call Haskill at 986-7979.
