One man gets out of each and heads for the house. The scene over the next 20 minutes is as humorous as it is confusing. The first youth comes down the hill with a case of beer and begins walking away. Half a block from the house, Wiederick stops him and begins the process of confiscation. Meanwhile, the other two men have returned to their cars empty-handed. Some— discussions take place — presumably over price because more money is pro- dueed — while Herman sits, ignored, on the steps 10 feet away. One of the two men returns to the bootlegger’s house, armed with more cash. He comes down the hill minutes later and walks into the waiting arms of Wiederick, Herman and the third member of the enforcement unit. They again start the process of confiscating the illegally-purchased booze. While the police are taking the bottle, they are inter- rupted by the man from the second car.. He excuses himself, pushes through the small crowd and walks up to the house to make his pur- chase. He is oblivious to what is happening. Lock salesman isn’t telling the truth BEWARE OF a salesman bearing locks. That’s the word from North Vancouver RCMP which wants to get its hands on a bogus lock salesman working the Lower Lonsdale area. Police were alerted to the man Saturday morning when a number of residents of that area telephoned to complain about a salesman who claim- ed to be working with the RCMP. The man, who said he was employed by a firm called Vancouver Security, said he was working in conjunction with the RCMP and selling locks that had been recom- mended by the police force.
