LLOYD ARNTZEN will celebrate the revival of his five jazz legends in Masters of Jazz at City Stage. Dramatic chocolate e ee ee e¢ ee 4 ee pooes FATS AND FRIENDS FATS WALLER, Louis Armstrong, and Duke Ellington may be just immortal memories of great jazz to most, but to Lloyd Arntzen they are old friends. Accomplished clarinettists, singer, and sax- ophonist, Arntzen has always loved jazz and fronted jazz bands. He'll be putting his experience and interest together to present Masters of Jazz at City Stage November 6 through April of next year. Four shows will be mounted for each artist in the series. Fats Waller is first up BS - Wednesday, October 12, 1983 - North Shore News Masters of jazz to be staged November 6 and 13, followed by Louis Armstrong December 4 and 11, Billie Holiday January 22 and 29, Jelly Roll Morton, February 19, and 26 and finally Duke Ellington March 25 and April 1. The shows will play at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Sundays. Arntzen will be joined by a group called the Broadway Swells made up of Doug Parker, ptano, Chris Nelson, bass, Micky Earnshaw, drums, and Leif Arntzen on trumpet.
