His father, an electrical engineer, accepted Harrison's medal and award at the convocation ceremonies. Harrison has also been awarded a Dr. E.J. Wells Chemistry Book Award. In addition, he is the recipient of a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council scholarship in the amount of $9,400 and has been given an $11,000 scholarship by MIT. The Shrum award, named after SFU’s first chancellor, is given annually to the graduating student who has maintained a high scholastic standing over at least six semesters while showing “outstanding qualities of character and _ unselfish devotion to SFU” through participation in = extra- curricular activities.
