Melanie Friesen, the producer of the forum filled me in on this year’s agenda. MV: Who have you got as the guest panelists this ycar? Melanie Friesen: This year our focus is on Europe. I lived in Europe tor 19 years, 16 in London, so I’m very keen to make a closer Canada- -Europe con- nection. October 10 is Euro-Day, where I've invited buyers from European film and television to address us on the sort of thing they’re looking to buy from our filmmakers. Even if some filmmakers don’t think their work is ready to sell in Europe it’s such a great experience to hear what they want and to meet them. I’ve also invited some producers and BBC executives to speak generally on why they have done as well as they have. Oct. 11 is New Filmmaker’s Day, which is heavily attended by a lot of Trade Forurn producer Melanie Friesen film school graduates and people from other fields who are moving into film and television.
