THE INFLUX of driving schools plying their trade on the North Shore is driving the Stotts family crazy. NORTH VANCOUVER CITY COUNCIL By Robert Galster So Norman and Marlies Stotts took it upon themselves to survey what they considered an unnatural increase in the number of driving school vehicles in their East 8th Street neighborhood. They found the results shocking and forwarded them to North Vancouver City Council in the hope of having the situation rectified. “As residents on 8th Street, we'd like to see this cease,” said Norman FAL RELL MUSSATTO ... “I'm not against people learning how to drive.” Stotts before council Monday. Coun, Darrell Mussatto sought to clarify Stotts’ suggestion for a solution to the problem. “You're not against driving schools, you just want to have your share (of the traffic) and no more,” Mussatto asked. Said Stotts, “We're getting 80-90% coming from outside the North Shore." His wife Marlies was more forth- coming in her presentation. “They don’t learn how to drive, they learn how to pass the test," she said and udded that most of the dri- vers and the instructors she has approached “can't speak English and just ask if there is a rule against it (teaching driving skills in North Van).” in response to these concerns counci} requested city stall to study the situation on April 3.
