rides Club find

i In response to your North
Shore News memories, it brings to
mind my idea to start a War Brides
Club on Dec. 7, 1988, which was
placed in Noel Wright’s column
along with follow-ups after his arti-
cle appeared in your paper,

1 have kept these newspaper
mementos on. the war brides in a
scrapbook. along with other infor-

‘mation about us war brides. We are

part of Canada’s history so it is
only fitting these clippings should
go to the museum or archives in
due course.

mect once a month at the United
Chirch at Lonsdale and Osborue.

from the city making it difficult for
them to make it to the meetings.

Also, we are fast becoming wid-
ows with the loss of our wonderful
husbands.

We are unique in that we have a
common bond through our wartime
experiences in the war-torn coun-
tries of our birth.

[ know we have not heard from
all the war brides around
Vancouver and the North Shore.
Some are nursing sick husbands
and some are ill themselves.

However, it would be nice to
hear from them and for them to
know we are here for them should
the need arise.

myself, we say “thank you” to the
North Shore News.

Do the animals need condoms now?

Dear Editor:

Well, well, well! We now hear
that cats and cougars have the
HIV virus! Now added to the list
are the mallard ducks in San
Francisco; the cows, calves and
sheep, and the stellar seals are
dying, The eagles are dying.

Hey men! Are you now going
to sell condoms to the animals?
You certainly made the big dol-
lars supplying humans.

Animals, birds, etc. all around
the world, are dying from
immune deficiencies or bacterial
infections — Japan has a 35%
rate in their cats,

No wonder the Siberian Eagle
is trying to find refuge in Canada
and Chernobyl! No Nobel prize
winners nor intelligent computer
highways will ever be able to
save Mother Earth.

The ozone jayer is destroyed,

the Earth filled with chemicals,
pesticides, fungicides, herbicides,
you name it!

Animals are filled with these,
as well as being injected with |
tetracyclines, growth hormones,
etc, whether they need them. :

P.S. parents: keep condoms
out of the schools. They: won't
help! :
