oy SO OR TURRET GREEK RESTAURANT Generous portions served From page 14 Kypriaki pita bread and a Lamb Souviaki ($9.95) and Canadian in- hibitions soon drift into gay Mediterranean rhythms. At Kypriaki, you'll see the office accountant trading steps with the restaurant’s belly dancer; the longshoreman from = across the road doing his best impression of Zorba the Greek. The restaurant’s bracing aromas of olive oil, oregano and roasting lamb, and its mammoth servings of food are all faithful accom- paniment to Kypriaki’s overall Hellenic experience. Its menu is short and sweet. For the smaller appetite, Kypriaki’s appetizer selection will provide a good basic meal. Pickled octopus ($4.25), with a side of hot-buttered pita bread ($.95), is a lovely way to enjoy the eight-limbed beast at its finest. The tender meat is chopped into small finger-thick pieces and serv- ed beneath a simple oil, vinegar, oregano dressing that is ideal for hearty pita bread mopping. Kypriaki homous (chickpea mashed and spiked with garlic, $2.95) is, again, excellent accom- paniment to pita bread. Entree selection sticks to the best lamb, chicken and seafood tradi- tions of Greek cuisine. Size of servings also dates back to the time of Odysseus. A tested Kypriaki special Tiger Prawns ($11.95) included six fist- sized prawns, a large roast potato, a serving of rice, several spears of asparagus and assorted slices of red and green pepper. A Calamari entree ($9.95) came similarly outfitted with its generous portion of fried squid. Both meals were good basic Greek feasts. Throughout the meal, Kypriaki - throbbed to the twang of bouzouki and an enthusiastic social hubbub. The restaurant’s Greek sound- track hit top volumes with the sudden appearance of the Kypriaki’s regular belly dancer. Subsequent gyrations and hip bumps and grinds stopped all din- ing activities and inspired an in- trepid few to join the dancer in a - selection of novice belly moves, Dessert followed dance with the - ‘sampling of a Boureki ($2.50). . Served hot, the dish features a sweet cream custard filling in a pocket of phyllo pastry dusted ALICE & MICHAEL WORKSHOPS & GROUPS For people who have decided to look at their personal reality and through awareness of the true self and spiritual growth are willing to have everything they want in their lives with ease. The Count was eager to meet the two and pay tribute to the pub’s dedication to serving the Italian anise liqueur. Sambuca has become a trademark Queens Cross drink. Raht’s recipe for Italian Coffee has been enshrined ° on the back label of all Sambuca bottles. Slinger estimates the pub goes through four to five cases of the liqueur per month.
