The Ewarts were winners of the North Shore News Assignment: Hawaii contest held in March. And because the contest was such a success, the News is kicking off with a Win Your Way Across the Pacific contest, where prize winners will fly to Hong Kong or New Zealand. Recalling the trip to Hawaii in late July, with children Bryan, 12, Janine, 10, and husband Steve, Pat Ewart said: ‘“‘It was the best trip we've had as a family."* “We certainly appreciate winn- ing the trip from the North Shore News. It was a tremendous oppor- tunity for our kids. It was a real treat, especially the plane trip, which was their first.”" She said while in Hawaii for nine days, the family visited Pearl Harbor, hiked to the top of Dia- mond Head volcano, visited Sea Life Park and the Polynesian Cul- tural Centre. After winning the trip, Steve, a teacher at Templeton Secondary School in Vancouver, said it was the first time he had won any prize. Son Bryan had encouraged him to put his name on the entry form. When Steve’s name was drawn from 30,000 entries, Bryan said he thought he should get to go as well. Steve and Pat had visited Hawaii in 1.77, and say they would like to return in the near future. The Win Your Way Across the Pacific contest starts Wednesday and runs until Oct. 22. Entries can be filled out at any of the sponsor- ing businesses —- no purchase is necessary.
