Volunteers needed for child ID sessions NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP will go ahead with a child identification program June 15, 16 and 17 but only if they can find enough volun- teers to carry out the program. Cst. Rod Booth, who is co-ordinating the program here, says 36 volunteers are needed because of the ex- pected heavy demand for the Service. Under the Lower Mainland-wide program, announced two weeks ago, special forms with room a child’s vital statistics, fingerprints and aé_ color photograph, will be made available to interested parents. The parents would keep the completed forms, whch could be used be police in the event of the disappearance of the child. By MARK HAMILTON There has been increasing demand for the program since its inception several years ago in the United States. West Vancouver police recently carried out a similar program of its own and registered about 2,800 children during a five-day period. Anyone interested in helping the North Vancouver pohce with the program here is asked to telephone Booth at 988-131} Coroner’s jury rules ‘accident’ A MISREADING of a” directional heading has been blamed for the crash of a light plane oft Sea Island in January that killed the North Vancouver pilot and two others aboard A coroner’s inquest in- vestigating the death of pilot John kKertesz, $2, learned that Kertesz misinterpreted the directional heading as an order ta decrease his altitude Hie did so and then ctashed while making a turn he was ordered to make “He owas totally lost! said coroner Gerald Tilley .
