Dip netting
has nothing to
do with sport

Dear Editor:

i am sorely offended by
the picture entitled “Net
minder” appearing on page
26, Oct. 15 North Shore
News. | am an avid fisherman
and do not wish to have my
sport, hobby, pastime om pas-
sion represented by the indi-
vidual in this picture.

This man has nothing to
do with tishing or fishermen.
He is simply dip netting
salmon, a practice so far

removed from the sport of

fishing as te be illegal for
most of the population. .

If you wish to. portray
someone entitled by tradition
or treaty in the pursuit of his
“right” to take fish by this
means, be my guest but
please “do not ‘insult me or
others who love the sport by
calling this “fishing.”

Nude ends justify means

Dear Editor:

Re Councillor Heather
Dunstord posing nude for a
calendar, Sepr. 17.

In response to a recent fer-
ter by 2. Seeley, Pd like to
point outa few things.

First. of all, statistics show
that only 4% of sexual preda-
tors are provoked to attack or
are more likely to attack when
exposed to pornography. And
one only has to go to the
local movie rental shop) to
find a wide
pornographic materials trom
which they can pick and
choose.

Next of all, we are who we
are as humans, and proving to
the world that we have pubic
hair will do no harm: it’s
already common knowledge.

Displaying it is no crime,
so long as the viewers have
the choice to lovk or to not
look at the materials.

Lastly, one important part
about fighting for a cause is
to get attention in the media,
