historic homes

OWNERS of North
Vancouver City’s her-
itage homes will soon
be able to mount
plaques indicating the
historical significance of
their buildings.

And it’s free through the
city’s recently — approved
Heritage Program.

“The placement of plaques
on historical buildings can be
an effective way to inform res-
idents and visitors to commu-
nities about the significance of
the buildings around them,”
said city. planner Karen
Russell. “In the City of North
Vancouver we have over 230
buildings on the inventory

their architecture and history.”

The plaques would contain
a brief historical description of
the building and, when avail-
able, a historical photo of the
building will also be included.
Designed by Don Edlund, the
aluminum plaque also features
the city’s Heritage Advisory
Commission logo and is about
28 cm by 28 em (11 by 21
inches).
