Recreation 397, coordinator includes wea Car chase A YOUTH driving a stolen car was arrested on June t after he avoided a roadblock and was chased by police in both North Vancouver and West Vancouver. The youth, aged 17, was on probation in relation to another crime at the time of the incident. According to a West Yancouver Police (WVP) spokesman, the suspect pulled a U-turn and headed into West Vancouver afler approaching a North Vancouver RCMP roadblock near Marine Drive and Capilano Road at approximately 3 a.m. The suspect headed west in the eastbound lanes on Marine Brive, according to the police. Approximately 10 minutes later, WVP spotted the stolen 1992 Plymouth Sundance going cast on the Trans- Canada Highway near Capilano Road. When WVP attempted to stop the car, police say the driver accelerat- ed and refused to step. The cur was followed on the Trans-Canada Highway towards the Second Narrows Bridge. As the suspect approached the Mount Seymour exit, his cur hit the cen- tre highway divider and veered off the roadway into the ditch, accord to WVP. The suspect was apprehended and upon a search, police say a hunting knife was found concealed in ihe front of the suspect's pants, The car had been stolen in North Vancouver. The teen was charged with possessing stolen property valued at more than $1,000, dangerous driving, carrying a concealed weapon along with two counts of breaching probation. It is Hlegat to name the suspect as outlined in the Young Offenders Act. No one was injured as a result of the incident. Theft conviction A 22-YEAR-OLD Vancouver woman was recently required to pay $2,252.36 restitution in connection with a charge of stealing money orders in North Vancouver City. Laura Lynn Lucyk pleaded guilty to the charge stem- ming from a Nov. 7, 1992, incident. The money orders helonged to Canada Post Corporation. The restitution payment was directed to Anderson’s Post Office located at 1520 Lonsdale Ave, Lucyk also received 12 months’ probation relating to the charge.
