According to a North Vancouver RCMP spokesman, Barry Verheff was driving west on the highway when the truck went out of control at about 12:15 p.m. and struck the highway median. The truck was carrying a load of peat. The driver suffered abrasions in the accident. He faces charges for failing to maintain brakes and failing to keep a daily inspection log. Crown to seek dangerous offender declaration for accused THE PROSECUTOR in the trial of a man charged with attempted murder and sexual assault following an incident outside the Bridge House restaurant in North Vancouver last month may attempt to have the man declared a dan- gerous offender. David Alexander Snow, 37, was tried this week in North Van- couver provincial court on seven charges. Snow had earlier pleaded guilty to 11 charges laid against him, in- cluding two counts of sexual assault with a weapon, one count of sexual assault and four counts of armed robbery. On Aug. 21, Snow signed a statement of facts in which he admitted to: @ entering a women’s clothing store in Vancouver on June 29 and sexually assaulting the lone female clerk; @entering a Burnaby photography studio on July 3, stealing $165 from the lone female clerk and then walking the woman across the Second Narrows Bridge to North Vancouver to a make- shift camp in bushes on the southwest corner of the Upper Levels Highway and Westview Drive where he bound, gagged and sexually assaulted her. @ going to a Movieland outlet at the Westview shopping centre on July 11, tying up the owner, steal- ing $80 and abducting a female employee before taking her and the victim from the Burnaby photography studio to the Mount Seymour area.
