Sprinkling ban continues

THE BAN on lawn sprinkl-
ing in the region will remain
in effect for the time being,
according to Greater Van-
couver Regional - District of-

ficials.

Water consumption has been
rising recently. The figure for July
30, 273.5 million gallons (1.23
dillior. litres), was the highest
since June 26.

A report on the water situation
was considered by the GVRD
board of directors on July 31.

The board approved additional
funds to promote public
awareness of watering regulations.

Lawn sprinkling is banned in all
municipalities within Greater
Vancouver, Most municipalities
also have restrictions in place on
the use of hoses without shut-off
nozzies for any purpose, including
car washing. Hosing driveways
and sidewalks is prohibited in
most arcas.
