26 - Friday, May 4, 1990 - North Shore News Earthquake info nights SUMMER EXCITEMENT. 190 scheduled in Lions Bay IN THE event of a major earth- quake occurring on the Lower Mainland, trained personnel will be overworked. Residents of Lions Bay, not unlike any other Greater Vancouver residents, must be prepared to fook after their own family and perhaps neighbors for an initial 72 hours. Questions arise as to where you would go for heip to locate missing family members; who will provide shelter or clothing or food should your home be destroyed during an earthquake; and where will you go should you be in Richmond or Victoria when an earthquake oc~ curs? The Village of Lions Bay is sponsoring earthquake and family preparedness information evenings to answer such questions. Prepar- ing ahead of time will help reduce feelings of anxiety and helplessness and should increase self confidence and peace of mind. Emergency Social Services is an organized volunteer response. Lions Bay’s ESS team will be in place to host these information evenings along with trained per- sonnel from the Red Cross, St. John's Ambulance, North Shore Health Unit, Ministry of Social Services and Housing, Emergency Health Services and the fire department. The Lions Bay Community Ear- thquake and Family Preparedness evening will take place tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lions Bay Community Hall.
