revised and offered to the
public for the first time. And
if the program is a success in
its new form -- as an Open
Learning Institute (OLI)
correspondence course — it
could end up being taught in

The new .course, called
Electrical Utility Operation,
is based on material con-
tained in Electricity Fun-
damentals, an _ internal
Hydro program in use since
the early 1960s.

But while Electricity
Fundamentals is intended to
educate employees about
the technical aspects of the
company’ Ss operating system,
the new course is a basic
overview of an electrical
utility, writtenfor the

Part one is a non-technical
description of an electrical

the electric utility system

and electricity;
hydroelectric generation:
substations, transmission

and distribution: regulation,

protection and control:

customer supply and electric
energy use.

Johnson said, because
Electrical Utility Operation
is already a credit course.
