Solid performances by Dolphins The New Year has started off with solid performances for the Canadian Dolphins. C North Shore’s Suzanne Kwasny. won the women’s aggregate at the first In- vitational Warthog Meet hosted by the Hyack Swim Club at the Canada Games Pool. She led the club to win this meet with 1742 points over the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club with 1508 and the host club with 1359 points. Suzanne won three golds in the 100, 200 Back and 400 Ind. Medley and a silver medal in the 200 Fly. She was also on two winnin: relays, the 400 Medley with Jackie Loucks, Kevyn Stafford and Janet Mc- Pherson and the 800 Free with Janet, Fiona Waddell and Sue Melody. Clubmate Kevyn Stafford won the 200 Fly and won silver awards in 200 and 400 I.M., 100 Fly and 200 Back. Janet McPherson won silvers in 200 and 400 m Freestyle and a bronze in the 100 m Free. a Sue Melody~ of West Vancouver won @ bronze in the 200 Fly. In the men’s division Rob Baylis went home with silvers in 200 and , 400 m Free, while Richard ‘Nagy did same in the 200 Fly. Richard lost out to brother George, who is swimming in Edmonton for the Keyanos this Olympic year and who captured the high point trophy for men. Rob placed third in the 1500 m Free and Cam Green in - the 100 Fly. The 800 Free Relay with Rob Baylis, ‘Mike Blondal, Alan Swanston and Gord Overing joined the women in . bringing home the gold. And after the ‘simple scramble’ in the summer he decided it would be a good climb on ice. There is not too much problem with the 1800 metre mountain up to about the base, or 1500 metre mark. But then it becomes tricky. especially in winter With the changeable weather of the area. the ice . is comstantly changing creating difficulties for the climber — as Dejong found out. Planning on before sunmse to avoid melting ice, the young climber made it to the base before the problems started.
