6 - Sunday, September 25, 1988 - Lynn Walley Echo Library offers programs AS THE days draw in and the gloomier evenings of fall ap- proach, many of us begin to think about taking up a new hobby or Starting on a new project. Pro- grams offered at the Lynn Valley library this fall may be just the thing you’re looking for. Heidi Holmer, a coordinator and consultant in interior design for many years, now has her own business on the North Shore. On Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. she will be at the Lynn Valley library to present a talk on “Color in your Home”’, in which she will discuss the effects of color and its in- fluence on space and style. Fall is a great time for re- decorating, with many bargains to be had in the stores, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to begin. Few of us have the luxury of be- ing able to start from scratch: usually it’s a matter of having to find new drapes to complement the old paintwork, or new cushions to pick up the colors of the old ches- terfield. Sometimes starting right from the beginning is even more dif- ficult, as you have to make major decisions that you will have to live with for a very long time. Choosing a decor that suits both your tastes and your lifestyle is a challenge. Different combinations of colors and textures can make the same room light and airy or cosy and intimate, while subtle changes in furnishings and ac- cessories create different moods and settings. Whatever your dec- orating problem, some advice from an expert can make all the dif- ference. The program is free, but seating is timited, so please come in good time. Another hobby that is gaining in popularity is doll-making. Displays of hand-made dolls at Lynn Valley and Capilano libraries have attracted a great deal of at- tention, and on Tuesday Nov. 15 at 7 p.m., one of the leading local exponents of the art will be at Lynn Valley library.
