The closures are part of the $100-million joint project renovation of the bridge deck sur- face by American Bridge and Surespan. The first weekend shutdown will also herald the beginning of regular nightly closures of the bridge from 8 p.m. unul 6 a.m. However, BCTEA director of communica- tions and pabtic affairs John Doyle said that no firm schedule for those shutdowns has yet been determined. “We'll make sure all the machin- ery is working, properly and everything is run- ning smoothly and then we'll take it from there.” he said.
