Pierre Jacques, who advertised in the North Shore News for someone to share his two-bed- room suite at 130 West Sth Street, said he saw Michel Andre Caouette shortly before he left tor work at 7:45 a.m. on July 13, 1995. Caouette was charged with uttering a death threat against his wife in carly May that year. He had been temporarily banned from seeing his children, but they were allowed to stay with him on the night of July 12. Caouette, 43, has pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder of his 10-year-old daughter, Danielle, and the attempted mur- der of his 14-year-old son, Joshua. Caouette, wearing only his white underwear, replied “no problem” and did not appear out of sorts.
