Actors io help in West Van annual event THE Beach House at Dundarave Pier contin- ues the tradition of the annual Festival of __. Lights, now in its sixth year. The official lighting cere- mony will take place on Monday, Dec. 2 at 5:15 p.m. and will air live on The Early News with Pamela Martin on BCTV. Rex Smith has the night off from Sunset Boulevard and Bo Svenson is back after filming Speed 2 with Sandra Bullock so both will drop by to help in the opening cere- monies. The Collingwood School Choir will entertain around the Nativity Scene and hand- carved wood figures. Tim Pawsey and his group of car- ollers will also entertain in The Beach House for the opening gala party. The Festival of Lights is an annual fundraiser for the North Shore Counselling Center. Every year tens of thou- sands of people come to cele- brate in the joy of the Christmas spirit among the 70 beautifully decorated trees that are sponsored by mem- bers of the Lower Mainland business community. The pro- ceeds for this year’s event will House go to help the many activities of the North — Shore Counselling Center. The trees will be on display from Monday, Dec. 2 to Friday, Jan. 3. Everyone is invited to come to view the dispiay and vote for a favorite tree. Voting closes Dec. 31. The donations that accom- pany the vote will go to help many services provided by the North Shore Counselling Centre which has a well estab- lished reputation of assisting individuals, couples and fami- lies with a diverse range of problems. During the month of December the Beach House at Dundarave Pier will have a special menu to accompany the festive view of the Festival Christmas Group Show opens at Ferry Building THE Ferry Building Gallery is getting into the spirit of Christmas. On Tuesday, Dec. 3 the gallery opens its Christmas Group Show, an exhibition of works by 10 North Shore artists. The show features an array of work including paint- ing, sculpture and textile art. An artists’ dialogue is planned for 11 am. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 as well as 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10. There is an evening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dee. 3. The gallery is located at the foot of 14th Street, West Van. Winter hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, closed Mondays. Admission to all shows is free.
