A three-day expedition there for those who enjoy birding and pleasant scenery as well as botanical ‘‘finds,’’ is being spon- sored by the UBC Centre for Continuing Education Monday through Thursday, June 10 to 13. Wild plant specialist Wilf Nicholls of the UBC Botsaical Garden will accompany the tour. On Denman Island participants will follow trails through old growth fir forest on 80-acre Fillongley Park. On Hornby, they'll see an abundance of wild roses, honeysuckle and also coast- al prairie vegetation — grasses, annuals, perennials, bulbs and a host of other plants. The tour departs from and returns to the UBC Winter Sports Centre. The price, $470 Canadian, includes GST, transportation, ferry fare, some meals and shared hotel/lodge accommodation in Courtenay and on Hornby Island.
