ST. ALICE HOTEL DENIOLITION FREEZE

City Council may face

NORTH VANCOUVER City

Council may be facing two

lawsuits over its 60-day freeze on the demolition permit for
Lower Lonsdale’s St. Alice Hotel site.

Both the owner of the hotel and
the prospective developer have said
the 60-day period throws their Oct.
28 option to purchase deadline into
jeopardy.

“To the extent thal we have lost
(trade), we would be well entitled
to seek compensation from the ci-
ty,’ said St. Alice owner S.T. Tay.

Ald. Bill Bell said council’s ac-
tions were legal under the provin-
cial Heritage Conservation Act.
“There is no legal ability for
Cressey or the owner to sue the ci-
ty,” he said.
