Decorated fer Christmas, the two -malls: have it ail for Le LOCATED RIGHT in the heart of the North Shore is Park Royal mall, the first shopping mall in Canada and the first place to look for Christmas gifts. Shoppers have two malls — north and south — and 190 stores that offer a host of perfect Christmas presents that are ideal gifts for every member of the fam- ily. “One-third of our shops are one-of-a-kind shops that you won’t find elsewhere in the Lower Mainland,”’ explains mall market- ing manager Per Danielsen. “That's a very distinctive factor in the family of stores that make up Park Royal."’ As well as the one-of-a-kind shops, Park Royal also features all of the popular department and chain stores that make the mall truly a one-stop shopping experi- ence -~ why go elsewhere when it is all at the doorstep? For many of the merchants in the mall, top-quality service is just a matter of plain pride. They will go the extra mile to offer the brightest and best service, and that makes the difference when it come to Christmas shopping. GREAT SELECTION With 40 women’s fashion stores and seven men's fashion stores, the two malls are a good choice for the shopper who has clothes on the Christmas list. In Park Royal's selection of clothing shops can be found items to suit all tastes and budgets. Fash- ions for kids, teens and adults can be found in one mall — there is no need to make many trips to buy clothes gifts for all family members. One of the further conveniences of Park Royal is the free covered parking, a definite plus when Lower Mainland weather does its worst around Christmas time. Shoppers who get frustrated by hunting for a parking space should keep this tip in mind: try the mid- dle level as people often miss the numerous parking spaces there. Customers who park near the south mall do not have to go through the inconvenience of driv- ing across the street to get to the north mall, where there is a myriad of exciting shops. A special shuttle service whisks shoppers from one mall to the other. A tradition since 1974, the shut- tle bus runs daily — and the cost to shoppers is minimal. “We charge five cents,’’ says Danielsen, who notes the proceeds from the December ridership go to two local Christmas charities, ‘tand we have ever since it was in- troduced."* After a morning's shopping, nothing is more relaxing that sit- ting down to a nice lunch, and Park Royal has an impressive ar- ray of restaurants from which to choose. With a host of restaurants, three of them in department stores, shoppers are sure to find an eatery that pleases their palates. For eat-and-run shoppers who cannot spare the time to sit and eat, there are a host of places where they can grab a quick bite before heading back to shopping. A glass-walled elevator in the south mall makes it easy for disabled shoppers or senior citizens to move from one level to the other without having to climb stairs or battle escalators. To help shoppers get a start on their gift buying, the mall will be open weekdays until 9 p.m. begin- ning Dec. |. CHRISTMAS FUN The popular Carols in the Mall attraction with local school choirs soothing shoppers with song returns to Park Royal again this season from Dec. 7 to 11 and Dec. 14 to 18. Carols are at noon, | p.m. and 2 p-m., with North Vancouver schools in the north mall, and West Vancouver schools in the south mall. “That's also part of our enter- tainment package,’’ said Danielsen. And what Christmas is complete without that jolly elf? Santa Claus will come to Park Royal Nov. 2! — |f am. in the north mall, 1 p.m. in the south mall — amid the pomp and ceremony befitting his status, “There’s a Santa parade and all the things that go along with it,” he said. Minstrels will be strolling through the mall daily from 6:30 p.m, to 8 p.m. Dec. 7 to 18. Shopping at Park Royal has it all — great selection, great sur- roundings and something for everyone.
