I was sorting through a stack of
old recipes thé other day and came
upon this one..It comes from the
days when J. ‘taught home
ecoriomics: to 2 bunch of ‘little
grade- eights‘ who: didn’t know.a
spatula from a front-end loader.

.My ‘own kids -started cooking
about the time they learned to read
and this is an excellent’ simple reci-
pe to start them off with. **

Oatmeal ‘Crunch Cookies
Ys cup cocoa (dry, unsweetened)
% cup milk oo ,
- % cup margarine
1 cup sugar "
Y% teaspoon vanilla
1% cups oatmeal
¥2 cup coconut’

Combine the cocoa, milk, mar-
garine and sugar in a saucepan and
bring to a boil. Add vanilla and
then stir in the oatmeal and coco-
nut. Drop by spoonfuls on greased —
cookie sheets and allow to cool.

And, from the same stack of old
recipes, comes this rib recipe. My
family is very fond of it, but I

must confess, I. don’t make it very ©

often because I have an aversion to
pineapple. °

3 pounds pork ribs,
cut in serving pieces
¥Y cup finely chopped onion
1 garlic clove, minced
Y% cup finely chopped celery
cup finely chopped

1lcup pineapple juice
Ya cup water

2 chicken bouilion cubes
Ys cup brown sugar
