Chena swims
through finals

NORTH Vancouver’s Chena Swim
Club did well at the Junior Pro-
vincial B.C. Championships in
Penticton held March 1 and 2.
Results:
Tyler Godding: 1st 200 m. backstroke, Ist
200 m. individual mediey, Ist 50 m. freestyle.
Ist 200 m. breaststroke. High point trophy
for boys 15-17.
Rob Price: 1st 200 m. butterfly, 1st 400 m.
individual medley, Ist 100 m. butterly. High
point trophy for boys 13-14 years old.
Aryk Brown: 1st 400 m. individual medley.
High point trophy for boys 1! & 12 years
old.
Eileen Joe: ist 100 m. breast stroke
Caroline Shier: Ist 50 m. freestyle

Chena placed first in the boys 13 and !4-
year-old 200 m. medley relay and the boys 13
and 44-year-old 200 m. freestyle relay.
Members of the relay teams were Sean
O'Brian, Alan Kuusk, Rob Price, Adam
Nemeth and Carey Wortman.

Deep Cove
tames Lions

DEEP COVE Kompleat Soccer
Squad defeated the Dutch Lions
2-0 at Sunset Park on March 1 in
Vancouver Metro Soccer League
action.

Deep Cove pressed early and
were rewarded with the game’s
opening goal at the 30-minute
mark when Jan van Gruen passed
the ball to Jeff Pawson who drib-
bled past two Dutch Lion defend-
ers. Pawson scored from six metres
out on a shot to the right corner.

The Lions roared onto the field
in the second half, but Deep
Cove’s goalkeeper Wayne
MacKintosh and defender Tommy
Adams helped keep them off the
score sheet.

The Lions continued to press,
but a long cross-field pass was
headed on by Randy Kennedy to
an onrushing Peter Burns.

Burns chipped the bail past the
Dutch Lion goalkeeper from 20
meires out to add insurance to the
Deep Cove win.
