While travelling, she and her husband stayed in a num- ber of bed and breakfasts, which reminded Birrell. of how much she loved the first meal of the day — especially when it was prepared by someone else. “I love breakfast ... and I thought it would be great to try something like this at home. I thought ‘I can’t do the bed bit, but I can do the breakfast.’” Everyone she told about her idea thought it was a great one. Friends who enjoy sleep- ing in on che weckends, or spending it with their fami- lies, thought having someone else prepare and drop off a gourmet breakfast would be “sublime.” So the college professor, her husband and nvo sons decided to Jaunch — the “Breakfast Butler” as a family project.
