But enough tears in your vintage port, fellow Savouryites, For there is a silver iining in this Deep Cove cloud: the energetic Laurent Neveu, who joined Pecorelli as a Savoury partner back in 1996, has installed his Eiffel Cafe in the Savoury’s Gallant Avenue location. Joining him at the Eiffel is brother Philippe Neveu. Together they hope to bring some French savoir- faire to the North Shore's east end. Their opening Eittel menu includes such items as Chicken liver mousseline prepared with porto and cognac; Roasted snails in pistachio garlic butter; Steamed mussels with home- made pesto; Bouillabaisse with Iranian saffron; Poultry tenders with peppercorn and Alaskan king crab sauce, Grilled salmon steak with Grand Marnier ginger may- onnaise and Beef loin with blue cheese garnish. Appetizers are priced from $4.50 to $7.50; entrees are an affordable $12.50 to $15.50. Oh, et Mon Dicu!, they have retained Pecorelli’s Rack (Jakarta Lamb, that is) and Carre d’Agneau. And what of Monsicur Pecorelli? Word has it that he is bound for West Vancouver to open a flower shop. Expect it to be a place of grace and sophistication, as his Savoury always was. The Eiffel is planning to be open for lunch starting on Feb. 25. It has yet to be sampled by Table Hopping, but expect an Eiffel critique in an upcoming episode.
