below are a few of the many vol-
unteer opportunities available.

WELL-ORGANIZED outgoing
person who enjoys seniors is
wanted to run a weekly recre-
ational program including activi-
ties such as dancing, singing, and
speaker and slide show pres-
entations. Hours are flexible
Mondays. This position is ideal for
a couple.

INFLUENCE the future by vol-
unteering to give demonstrations
to day-care/kindergarten children
on the effects of smoking. Also
needed are people to help train
demonstrators. If you are an en-
thusiastic non-smoker with good
communication skills you will en-
joy this rewarding position. Hours
are flexibie days. Training and ori-
entation provided.

DESKTOP publishing experi-
ence? If you are familiar with the
Ventura system come and share
your knowledge with a dynamic
women’s centre and help with the
publishing of its quarterly newsiet-
ter. Equipment is provided and
hours are flexible. Also needed is a
graphic artist to produce lively
original drawings for the articles of

cal fitness are necessary for this
position of picture hanger at a
local gallery. Duties include
assisting with the arranging and
hanging of local artists’ water-
colors and oils. Time commitment
is for 1% hours on the second
Wednesday of each month.

BE A dental assistant. A private
icdge needs a person to assist the
dentist by escorting the elderly to
their appointments and to handle
equipment and mark cards. Dentist
will train. Volunteer should speak
fluent English. Hours are one Fri-
day per month.

BOARD member to participate
in the policy development of a
special needs playschool. Member
will also help set guidelines and
goals of the committee, plan activ-
ities and participate in fund-raising
events. Volunteer should have
knowledge of and interest in
special needs children. Training
and orientation provided. Board
Meets once monthly on Thursday
evenings from September to June.
