Skip Neti Hunter and lead Pat Philpott wou the Silver Medallion in the ladies’ pairs at the South Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club on the Labor Day weekend. A three-time national singles champion, Hunter said, ‘‘Normal- ly I don’t like to skip but this time I did and it was successful.’’ Hunter and Philpott defeated skip Margaret Crawford from North Vancouver and lead Doreen Jackson from Stanley Park, 17-9 to take the ‘‘A”’ divi- sion. The pair will split the $1,060 purse. Hunter said the jacked-up price for the prestigious tourna- ment — $75 this year — was 3 fruitful investment. In the men’s pairs, skip Peter Fish and Jead Jan Leman, both of the North Vancouver; club, scored a coup in the Gold Medallion despite their runner-up finish. Striker Franco Diligenti began the scoring early in the first half for the Rovers. The Argyles tied up the score soon in the second half, keeping the pressure on the Rovers defence.
