A RECOMMENDATION
that a case involving North

from the court system has
been made to the probation
officer in North Van.

Crown counsel Don Celle
told the News last week that
if Welsh is diverted he will
likely be ordered to perform
community service,
probably totalling between
24 and 48 hours.

Welsh came to the atten-
tion of the RCMP in the
early hours of Wednesday,
February 9, when he
returned home to the
Seymour building of the
Woodcroft apartments after

attending the annual North
Van District awards
banquet.

The fire alarm sounded (to
the 19-storey building and
Welsh is alleged to have
greeted the person opening
the door with a statement to

Celle conjects that if the
matter went to court the out-
come of a community work
order would probably be the
same.

and is having treatment for
his alcohol problem.

he did.”
