Amazingly, hypnosis can be

saliva during dental work.

hypnosis is being used are to

memory, concentration, and
confidence.

Although it is hard to
prove, there is some kind of
link between creativity and

What is hypnosis? Is it
scary? Will I be totally under
someone’s control? This
writer volunteered to under
go hypnosis to see what it
felt like and gauge the
results.

hypnosis is just a state of
mind or way of thinking that
is achieved by relaxing,
similar to meditation.

Dan did not ask me to look
into a spiral or at a dangling
watch. First he asked me
‘what areas of my life I felt
could. be improved. After
naming a few problems such
as insomnia and others, he
talked to me quietly while I
progressively became more
relaxed. All the time I felt
fine, was totally aware of
what was going on, could
hear everything and could
answer any questions. In
fact, I felt more than fine.

~ It felt good to relax so
deeply. I felt strong, yet just
resting. I found that I did
lose track of time. I figured
Dan had been talking to me
for about three or four
minutes. It was more like
twenty as I later found out.

While in the hypotic state, a
person is extremely
suggestible. It is like a direct
connection to the sub-
concious.

While in the hynotic state,
it is possible to “re-program”
your mind with beneficial

earlier, your mind takes
suggestions so seriously, if
you are told there will be no
pain, that is exactly what
happens - no pain.

Hypnosis is not really what
someone does to you. It is
what you do to yourself. If
you do not. want to be
hypnotized, you will not be
hypnotized. Hypnosis is
actually self-hypnosis. You
do ‘it to yourself. In fact, Dan
holds courses on self-
hypnosis for those interested
in helping themselves.

One of Rutley’s ambitions
is to explore what is know as
the Esdale state, a very deep
form of hypnosis wheré the
patient lies quietly with no
pain. It is in this state that
surgery can be performed.
