Al4 - Wednesday, April 28, 1982 - North Shore News Pe community ro undup Vancouver Art Gallery closed The Vancouver Art Gallery will be closed for public viewing from Apmil 26 through May 7 to allow for the installation of a major exhibition of sculpture by six B.C. artists. The show, titled Mise en scene, has been organized by the Gallery's three curators, Joanne Birnie-Danzker, Lorna Farrell-Ward and Scott Watson in recognition of the strong and vital three dimensional work that is currently being produced in British Columbia. Works by Kim Adams, Al McWilliams and Liz Magor of Van- couver; Mowry Baden and Roland Brener of Victoria; and Jerry Pethick of Hornby Island will occupy all gallery exhibition areas. This is the first time the Vancouver Art Gallery has dedicated its entire premises to sculpture by con- temporary B.C. artists since March 1970 when the gallery organized a major exhibition of works by Ronald Bladen and Robert Murray. A major catalogue in- cluding essays on the issues concerning recent sculpture, interpretive sections on each of the participants and more than 100 illustrations, will accompany the exhibition. During the 12 day in- stallation period, the Gallery Shop and the library will be open to the public during normal business hours. For further information call the Vancouver Art Gallery at 682-5621.
