TWO North
Vancouver residents
face robbery charges
following two purse
snatchings on Dec. 3.

One victim was 85 years
old.

Police say the senior was
approached by a couple ina
car near East 9th Street and
Grand Boulevard at 10:30
am.

The suspects, police say,
pulled up beside the senior
and asked her for direc-
tions.

The elderly woman's

purse, which contained

credit cards and more than
$100, was allegedly ripped
out of her hands.

The suspects then fled in

- a white Ford Thunderbird.
The car is believed to have
been stolen from a newspa-
per delivery man in North
Vancouver on the same day
at 6 a.m.

That afternoon, the
alleged = robbers struck
again.

Police say a woman in
the 400-block of West 6th
Street was approached by
the couple in the car.

According to police, the

Cpl. Blair McColl said that
purse snatchings generaliy
occur more often at
Christmas time.

“Unfortunately, the vic-
tims, more often than not,
happen to be elderly
females who can least afford
this type of thing,” said
Cpl. McColl.
