ED Bohme has a rest-
less mind.

The workshop at his
Fisherman’s Cove home
attests to the fact. One wall is
plastered with patents. Over
on another side of the room
sits the prototype of his latest
project, the Bohmeter, a
device to test the integrity of
cylinders that must bear high
pressure loads.

The 85-year-old spent
most of his working life in
the import-export business
and fire protection services,
but along the way he
invented things.

As a young man in
school in Germany, he was
the one with his hand up
when the teacher asked for
answers to lesson questions.
“He knew that T knew and
he never asked me. What
then happens when other
students aren’t asked?
They're going to sleep and
they’re -not really partak-
ing.” He came up with an
electronic device whereby
the teacher had a display
board. On each student's
desk was an input device
upon which students indi-
cated their answers to yes
and no questions, “When
they all selected with what
you would now call a
mouse, the teacher could

see answers.”
