Here are some of the highlights: ' Partners rehabilitate Parkside Creek What is beginning as a drainage improvement project on’ ’ Parkside Creek in Deep Cove will end up as a “kid-size” _ environmental park, through the cooperative efforts of District Parks and Engineering, Cove Cliff Elementary School and local business. In August, equipment is moving in to enlarge storm drains in the creek adjacent to the school. : When the equipment moves out, students will move in to rehabilitate the area as wildlife habitat, helped by the District’ . . ecologist: Kevin Bell, Over the next few years, they will be : planting | tree seedlings and introducing salmon and frogs into . the creek, “File photo Berkley Road intersection ; we A large area of earthfill to the south of Mount Seymour Parkway at Berkley Road marks the site for upcoming recon- struction of this intersection. Work will begin this month on ‘a southerly extension of Berkley Road to provide access and services for a new Kiwanis long-term care facility, Realigning Dollarton “Activity is beginning soon on initial clearing and site prepara- tion for the Dollarton Highway Realignment project which will improve the road system in the Maplewood community. ' _, The realigned southerly route will start at Riverside : § Drive West then tie back in with the existing high way near the International College. The District and | ‘Canadian Occidental Petroleum Ltd. are jointly : undertaking the project, The schedule calls for detailed design of the initial phase starting this fall _and construction beginning early in 1996.
