Nature calis at Lynn Canyon

THIS SUMMER, children and fami-
lies can heed the call of nature by

taking part in programs offered by-

the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre.

The centre is open daily from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m., and offers a daily
nature walk around the park at 2 p.m.
Its indoor nature displays are com-
plemented by a 50-title collection of
NEB nature films which can be
viewed upon request.

On Saturdays throughout the
summer, people are also invited to
drop in and make a nature craft at the
open crafts table that is available all
day,

Other programs, such as the fol-
lowing, require pre-registration and
in some cases a small fee. Call the
ecology centre at 987-5922 for infor-
mation.

QO Explore Maplewood Flats,
Lighthouse Park, Mount. Seymour,
or Lynn Headwaters at family hikes
that are offered each Sunday in
August at 9:30 a.m. Phone in
advance for location. Free.

“Junior Ecologists” for eight- to
12-year-olds runs on Mondays in
August from i to 3 p.m. Children
wil] take part in arts and science
activities and learn about the park
ecosystem. Cost: $3/day.

( On Fridays, nine- to 12-year- olds
can take part in the “Canyon Quest”
treasure hunt. Decipher clues to lead
you to the treasure in Lynn Canyon,
Lynn Headwaters or the Seymour
Demonstration Forest. Cost: $3/day.
