viday, March 13, 1992 ~- North Shore News — 13 Committee recognizes heritage achievements THE CITY of North Van- couver’s Heritage Advisory Committee recently awarded three Heritage Awards of Honor for 1992. The reci- , pients were: @ David Birch and Associates Ltd., in recognition of the adap- tive re-use of the MacLennan res- idence through its incorporation into the Carriage Hill townhouse development, 235 East Keith Rd. In this project, the heritage modate the permitted density while the new townhouse units were designed with a similar char- acter; @ Robert H. Booth, in recogni- tion of his outstanding voluntary contributions towards the Street Car No. 153 Restoration project. The body of this street car has now been fully reconstructed and a decision on whether it wiil be put into active use or be used fot display purposes is pending. The project was undertaken by the city’s museum and archives; @ Robert J.R. Faulkner, in rec- ognition of his outstanding volun- tary effort in the compilation of a computerized building permit in- dex for the years 1911 to 1947 in the City of North Vancouver. The set of indexes created in- cludes the date of construction, owner’s name, architect’s name, builder's name, construction value and type. The information will now be easily accessible. In other news, it was reported during Heritage Week last month that the District of West Van- couver did not engage in many heritage-related activities during Heritage Week in 1991. However, several other organizations did put on events. They included: @ displays at the Park Royal Shopping Centre’s south mall put on by both the West Vancouver Museum and Historical Society and the West Vancouver Heritage Advisory Committee.
