NEWS Dock rammed B.C. FERRY Corp. investigators have yet to determine the cause of an accident Sunday that sent six people to hospital when 2 Bowen Island ferry rammed into a berth at Horseshoe Bay. The accident occurred at 12:17 p.m. as the Howe Souad Queen was docking. According to a West Vancouver Police spokesman, one engine used to slow down the vessel wasn't engaged and the ferry struck a wing wall. Eight people suffered injuries. Most of the injuries occurred to passengers who were on stairs on their way to the vehicle deck when the vessel made its hard Jand- ing. Suzanne Allan of Bowen Island, was sent to Lions Gate Hospital with a fractured pelvis. Approximately t5 vehicles aboard the ferry were dam- aged; estimated value of the damage was $20,000. The ferry was carrying 112 passengers and 46 vehicles at the time of the accident. The B.C. Ferry Corp.’s assistant general manager of operations has convened an internal board of investiga- tion to determine the cause of the crash. Autopsy conducted A DEAD man discovered last week in the waters of Lynn Creek appears to have died as the result of a fall. The North Vancouver RCMP say an autopsy shows that the unidentified man, believed to be approximately 45 years old, suffered a head injury and broken neck. The body was discovered Dec. 4. The man was wear- ing jeans and one hiking boot when found.
