PM not at all amazed by
the number of cars that
run amber fights these
days. Yellow: colored
lights, after all, are a
serious intrusion on our
collective quest to get
from A to Band almost
as disruptive as those
darn red lights.

The mighty Mutor Vehicle Act tell us that when a yellow
light is exhibited at an intersection “the driver of a vghicle
approaching the intersection and facing the yellow light shall

cause it tu stop before entering the marked crosswalk on the
near side of the intersection, or if there is no crosswalk then
before entering the intersection, unless the stop cannot be made
in safety.”

Pretty straight forward, ch? STOP unless you can’t stop safe-
ly. There is little grey in this law, but we all know that there i isa
small amount of time (three or four seconds, depending ou the
size of the intersection and the expected speed of traffic) before
an amber switches to rect. But hey, you’re in a hurry so just this
one time you put the pedal to the metal and vow to yourself
